Meet Nastasia, SNFC VP of Fitness & Game ChangerMay 23, 2017 | written by

Nastasia joined Steve Nash Fitness World & Sports Club (SNFC) as a District Fitness Manager in November 2012.

Within two and a half years, she won District Fitness Manager of the Year each of her first two years and was promoted to Director of Fitness. More recently, in October 2016, Nastasia became SNFC’s Vice President of Fitness.

As VP of Fitness, Nastasia continues to conquer the fitness industry as an inspirational leader and mentor to her fitness team. We are thrilled to recognize Nastasia for all of her accomplishments leading #TeamSNFC and for being one of our fearless female leaders – congratulations, Nastasia!

Why is health and fitness so important to you?

Prior to working in the fitness industry, I worked in the hospitality industry. I found myself 30 pounds larger and a self-esteem that was deflated. Having been a high level competitive gymnast my entire life, I never needed to join a gym to stay in shape. Reality hit when I was diagnosed with increasing health problems and deemed as “pre-diabetic.” At that point, I became a member of a gym for the first time and hired a Personal Trainer to help me get my life and health back in order. I quickly reached my goal and found both the emotional and physical benefits of exercise. Two years later, I continued to excel in my fitness goals and made the decision to embark on a career where I could live my passion and purpose every day. I became a Certified Personal Trainer and never looked back!

I was presented with the opportunity to join #TeamSNFC while working at another fitness organization and chose to join the SNFC team for two reasons – the people and opportunity. The SNFC team is incredible. I am surrounded by people that challenge me, collaborate with me and care for me. I have the privilege to be mentored by highly influential and experienced professionals in the fitness industry, which has accelerated my growth exponentially. We are a growing organization, and with growth comes opportunity. Much of what I have been able to achieve has been made possible due to the company’s growth. I am working for an organization that is supported by people who are truly invested in making it a success, which is incredible!

What are some of your greatest achievements on Team SNFC?

My proudest moments with SNFC have been watching those I mentor advance in their fitness careers. This, above all else, has been my main purpose and top priority in my entire career. I have also enjoyed creating, developing and launching the 90 Day Fitness Challenge for our members in multiple clubs. The purpose of the challenge is to inspire as many people as possible and lead them through the journey of reaching their health and fitness goals. Through this, we have built a culture with our team that’s driven by purpose and uniting a community around one common goal.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I have been fortunate to work alongside several influential leaders in the industry who have provided mentorship to me throughout my development. From these mentors, I have learned the importance of building strong relationships with your team members and being a servant leader – a leader who shares the power and puts the needs of others first. By following both of these pieces of career advice, I have been able to help my fitness team develop and perform as successfully as they are.

What advice do you have for aspiring female leaders, particularly in a fitness career?

One of the main obstacles in my career in the fitness industry has been advancing my career in a male-dominated industry. I never accepted that there was or should be any limitations on my potential due to being a female, nor should you. You need to stand tall to fight stereotypes and work hard to build your reputation as a female leader. You can do this with resilience and an incredibly focused vision for yourself.
