The Group Fitness team is thrilled to recognize Nancy as the May 2017 Group Fitness Instructor of the Month!
Nancy has worked in the Fitness Industry for over 26 years, and has been with Team SNFC for 15 of those. Nancy’s primary career is with the Ministry of Justice, and she’s a wife and mother of two grown children, but she still finds the time to teach Group Fitness Classes like Indoor Cycling and Zumba at our Coquitlam Fitness World.
Members adore Nancy and her classes are fun and well attended. Nancy carries her passion for fitness into each class she delivers and she takes pride in ensuring our members needs are met. She has formulated excellent relations with her participants and in doing so keeps our members at Coquitlam engaged in fitness as well as a community experience. Nancy continually attends workshops and conferences to keep her knowledge fresh and she is open to learning new formats and expanding her skills. She is a fantastic part of my team and a pleasure to work with.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU BRING TO THE TABLE WHEN IT COMES TO INSPIRING YOUR CLASS MEMBERS?
I keep the energy level high and switch up the exercise regularly. I provide variations for all fitness levels so that everyone is challenged.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GET INTO FITNESS & TEACHING?
Being a Fitness Instructor allows me to combine my love of music & dance with movement & fitness.
HOW HAS GROUP FITNESS IMPACTED YOUR LIFE?
This industry has allowed me many opportunities through SNFC workshops, Fitness Conferences and Certification programs to expand my knowledge that I can bring to my classes and share with members. I’ve met amazing people in this industry that inspire me to be the best I can. It is gratifying to know that we, as Group Fitness Instructors, impact the lives of those we teach.
WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE OUR MEMBERS ABOUT LEADING A HEALTHY AND ACTIVE LIFESTYLE?
- Change takes time so be consistent and committed.
- Connect with people who are also committed to living a healthy, active lifestyle.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR MEMBERS WHO ARE NEW TO GROUP FITNESS?
- Ask the Instructors questions.
- Make friends with participants in your classes to help keep you motivated.
- Instead of giving up when you hit a plateau, try switching it up.
