Kelly, SNFC District Operations Manager: Amazing Friend and MotherMay 9, 2017 | written by

Kelly first started at Steve Nash Fitness World & Sports Club (SNFC) in early 2014 at Delta Fitness World Front Desk. She quickly earned her place as one of the top Front Desk team members and was promoted to Operations Manager of Brentwood Sports Club and Lougheed Fitness World club locations. After leading her teams to top club multiple times, she was given the opportunity to lead Morgan Crossing Sports Club operations. More recently, Kelly was promoted to District Operations Manager, where she leads and inspires six operations teams across the Lower Mainland.

In honour of Mother’s Day, we are excited to recognize and show our appreciation to Kelly, who is an amazing SNFC team member and leader, loyal and trustworthy friend, and incredible mother and partner.

She’s also quite the fitness model! (You may recognize Kelly from some of our recent marketing materials.)

Thanks for all you do, Kelly! We are thrilled to have you on Team SNFC!

We asked Kelly:

I was at a place in my life where I wanted to turn my love for fitness and customer service into a meaningful career. One of my friends who was working at SNFC continued to encourage me to apply until I finally applied to Front Desk at Delta Fitness World and was hired! I was promoted quickly to Front Desk Lead and, after returning from maternity leave, was encouraged by Allie, my Operations Manager, to apply for Operations Manager at another location. I have continued to grow and haven’t looked back since.

What do you love most about working on Team SNFC?

I have been fortunate enough to take part in not one, but two SNFC club openings! The energy, excitement and cumulative goal of changing people’s lives at these openings is incomparable. On top of that, I love that I have been able and continue to work with multiple teams. From member breakfasts to Member Service Days to Monster Nash Houses, I am so lucky to work for a company that works hard and plays harder!

“Kelly’s positive, outgoing attitude makes her a great team member and loyal friend. She’s always been an amazing listener who I trust to give me honest, authentic feedback. She is exactly the type of person you want working on your team.”
– Michael, General Manager at Steve Nash Sports Club Morgan Crossing

What inspires you to live a healthy and active lifestyle?

Being healthy and active is a lifestyle and my parents always encouraged that lifestyle. I started playing competitive sports at a young age, which led to me playing for National, Provincial, and University level teams. The feeling you get after a soccer game when you’ve accomplished something bigger than yourself is something that you never forget and it kept me coming back for more. More recently, my own family has been my driving force.

I always wanted to be a mom my daughter could be proud of, so whether it’s her seeing me do kettlebell squats in the kitchen, chasing after her at the park, or hitting the ball field with her dad, it’s important to me that I set a good example and show her what’s important in life!

What makes a successful Front Desk team member?

Energy! There is something that speaks volumes about energy. A successful Front Desk team member should also be confident, outgoing, empathetic, assertive and, most of all, friendly. The Front Desk team is truly the face of SNFC and, in my opinion, the most important player on the roster. First impressions are everything and we are the first and last impression for each SNFC club!

“When you see the passion and drive that Kelly puts into everything she does, it’s hard not to feel like you want to do the absolute best that you can as well. She is the kind of person that always leads by example, regardless of the situation, and I think that is incredibly inspiring to everyone she works with!”
– Emily, Front Desk at Steve Nash Sports Club Morgan Crossing

What tips do you have for aspiring Operations Managers?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions and utilize all of your resources when trying to figure something out. You must also lead by example and not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. One of my favourite leadership quotes is:

“The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humour, but without folly.” – Jim Rohn
