Five years ago, when Josh was 18 years old, he had a terrible mountain biking accident.
He broke his neck in seven places and had two compressions in his spinal canal, which resulted in temporary paralysis. Josh spent a month in hospital recovering and had to have surgery on his spine to fix the issues. He was told by doctors that he would spend roughly a year in hospital recovering and learning how to do everyday life tasks again.
He somehow proved his doctors wrong, and cut his recovery time significantly. Thanks to a positive frame of mind and a ton of determination, he was out of the hospital after just one month. He started physiotherapy right away to try and help re-build his strength for everyday living. He was back at work about six months after the accident, and was cleared by the doctors to start doing more strenuous physical activity about two years later.
Josh had played a lot of golf prior to his injury, and was trying to make it as a professional. He started re-focusing on that goal once he was told he could start playing. He knew he had to get his body back to a fitness level where he could compete professionally.
We’re happy to say he’s well on my way to doing just that.
Josh credits Steve Nash Sports Club Brentwood as being one of the greatest assets to getting his health back, and feeling like a normal human being again. It’s been about five years since his accident and he’s about 90% of the way to being back in perfect health.
“I have been a member for about 3 years now and have made vast improvements in my health, both physically and mentally. I’m now playing tournament golf as of just this past summer and I’m hoping to turn pro in the next few years. Being a pro athlete takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Steve Nash Fitness Clubs have really helped my game from a physical conditioning standpoint. I will continue to train there and push towards my goal.”
We couldn’t be happier for Josh and his massive improvements to his health and recovering from his accident. He truly is an inspiration and a success story of overcoming severe injury!
